A breakthrough development helps dentists close the gap due to polymerization shrinkage.

For assured success in composite fillings, the tooth bond to composite interface must be sealed – no gap. Therefore, polymerization shrinkage is the enemy in bulkfill composites when bacteria is allowed to get in the resulting gaps. The high shrinking stress tends to break the bond to the tooth, leading to a gap or white line (fracture) when on enamel. Fortunately, there is a major development to overcome polymerization shrinkage issues.

Dr. Raymond L. Bertolotti presents Bulkfills: Polymerization Shrinkage is the Enemy and shares the latest clinical research that is proving to be a game changer in composites. Through lectures, images, and video examples, you’ll learn how to “close the gap” between composite fillings and teeth for more successful and effective dentistry.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn why bulkfill composites don’t make sense.
  • Discover a new polymerization chemistry that effectively pulls the composite toward the bond and closes any gaps.
  • Avoid post-op bite pressure sensitivity and recurrent caries.
  • Compare microleakage at the cervical margin for multiple products.
  • Learn how to eliminate the white line or microfracture of the enamel due to polymerization stress.
  • Review laboratory tests on leakage affecting the critical gingival margin on a Class II composite.
